How do I find and view students and classes?
As a teacher, you can view all of your rostered classes within the admin or reader views of your school site. To begin, make sure to log in with your staff credentials.
On the admin dashboard
As a teacher, you can easily find and view students and classes from your Beanstack admin dashboard by following the steps below:
- Log in to the admin view of your school site.
- Navigate to Classes and Readers.
- To view classes rostered to you:
- Go to Classes.
- Use the search tools to find a class by “Class Name” and/or “Subject,” and click “Search.”
- From here, you can log reading for classes using the quick action icon button in the far right.
- Click on a class name to view all of the students rostered to that class. From here, you can click a student's name to view their reading progress and history; click the quick action icons in the far right column to log reading, log an activity, redeem a prize, or take challenge actions for a specific student; or click "Log for Class" to log for all or some students in the class.
- To find students:
- Either go to Classes and click the “Find a Student” button in the top right corner or go to Students > View Students.
- Use the search tools to find a student by “First Name,” “Last Name,” and/or “Username.”
- From here, you can click the quick action icons in the far right column to take actions on behalf of a student (e.g., log reading, redeem rewards) or click their name to view their reading progress and history.
Note: Teachers can only find and view classes and students rostered to them, whereas media specialists can find and view any class or student within their school.
On the reader experience
- Click the "View Reader Experience” tab on the right side of your admin view.
- Click the "View Reader Experience” tab on the right side of your admin view.
- Clicking one of the sections displays all the students in that class, and then clicking one of those students’ names lets you see their reader experience.
Note: If you log out of your site while in the reader view for a specific student, you will still be in that student’s reader experience when you log back in and click “View Reader Experience.” This does not mean that a student has admin access, it just means you haven’t switched back to your profile on the reader view (see visual below).
