How to set up a drawing
Creating drawings in Beanstack is a streamlined way to set up different goals, like 10 badges earned or 600 minutes of reading, and automatically enter qualifying readers into prize drawings for reaching those goals.
Note: Only library administrators and school media specialists plus can set up drawings.
- Log in to the admin view of your site.
- Go to Challenges > Drawings.
- All your drawings and their details, including the winners, are internal and not visible to readers at any point.
- Click “Create a Drawing” to begin creating a new drawing from scratch or click the + icon to duplicate and edit an existing drawing.
- Give your drawing a unique name that is easily identifiable and an optional description.
- Then, select your drawing type:
- “Ticket Drawing” if you’re picking winners from readers who deposited tickets toward ticket prizes in a challenge.
- “General Drawing” for all other drawing types.
- In the “Eligibility Settings”, pick one challenge from the challenge dropdown.
- For a ticket drawing, you can narrow down your pool of qualifying readers by branch or multiple branches if on a library site, which only displays published challenges with tickets.
- For a general drawing, all the fields are optional. You can pick multiple branches if on a library site, as well as multiple challenges on school or library sites. You can also input start and end dates and age/grade range or leave it blank.
- Then, you’ll select your settings.
- For a ticket drawing, select your ticket prize option and the number of winners you want to select.
- For a general drawing:
- First select how to filter readers:
- “All Eligible Readers” to pick from any readers that meet your eligibility criteria.
- “Specific Earned Badge(s)” to draw from all readers who earned a selected badge or earned one badge in a group of selected badges.
- “Total Books/Days/Minutes/Pages Read” to pick from readers who logged a specified amount of reading for a log type. You’ll want to select the log type that your site or challenge tracks to have accurate qualifiers.
- “Total Earned Badges” to draw from all readers who earned a specified number of badges from among all badge types—including registration and completion badges.
- Libraries only: “Total Points Earned” to pick from readers who earned a specified number of points.
- “Total Reviews” to draw from all readers who submitted a specified number of book reviews.
- “All Eligible Readers” to pick from any readers that meet your eligibility criteria.
- Then, change the applicable settings for:
- Winner Type to pick equal winners or an ordered placement of winners in first place, second place, etc.
- Number of Winners to set the number of prize winners, up to 100.
- Winner Type to pick equal winners or an ordered placement of winners in first place, second place, etc.
- First select how to filter readers:
- Click “Save” when finished.
Note: We strongly recommend against re-using or deleting a completed drawing, as that will interfere with your drawing records and make it difficult to track qualifiers and redemption. Generally, you should duplicate and edit drawings to create a new copy of a completed drawing or archive a completed drawing to de-clutter your dashboard.
