Is it required to collect age with Beanstack?

Beanstack requires that new account creators and readers enter their age upon registration. As a library administrator, you are able to choose how you collect ages from your readers by navigating to Setup > Age Collection.

Within the age collection settings, you are able to pick between readers recording their age as:

  • Numbers: All readers on your site will select their age as an exact number.
  • Years: Any adult or teen reader will select the year they were born, and younger child readers will select their numerical age.
  • 18+: All readers on your site will select their age as an exact number, with 18+ as the highest number option available.
  • 19+: All readers on your site will select their age as an exact number, with 19+ as the highest number option available.
  • 20+: All readers on your site will select their age as an exact number, with 20+ as the highest number option available.
  • 21+: All readers on your site will select their age as an exact number, with 21+ as the highest number option available.
