Why do the badges for a reader not appear to match up with their challenge participation (i.e., minutes read, activities completed)?
Do you notice that it looks like a reader has not completed enough activities or read enough minutes/books/days/pages to earn a badge? This is likely due to one of two reasons:
- A staff member earned the badge for the reader without adding the reading required to earn it. This is because staff members are able to click on a badge and earn it for someone directly.
- A staff member marked this reader as “complete” for a challenge, but did not enter the reading or activities for this person. In the case that you have a simple “complete” box for challenges on your site, it is likely someone marked this reader as complete, thus earning badges without having logged what was done.
Do you notice that it looks like the reader has more than enough reading or activities completed, but not enough badges earned? This is likely due to one of these reasons:
- Is the reader actually enrolled in the challenge? Make sure they are enrolled in the challenge.
- The reader may have accidentally logged too much and asked a staff member to “un-do” a badge. A staff member may have un-earned a badge for this person and not removed the incorrectly added time/books/activities by the reader.
- Badges may have been added to the challenge after the reader already passed those badge goals. We recommend against making changes like this to a current challenge, as newly added badges are not retroactively awarded to readers. To rectify this, a staff member will need to manually earn the badge(s) for this reader.
