Schools: How to use the Student Leaderboards tab
Leaderboards are a powerful tool for driving engagement and fostering the spirit of friendly competition in your school community. Beanstack’s Friend, Grade, and School leaderboards motivate students to participate actively in reading challenges and serve as valuable social tools that help build a stronger reading culture within your school or district.
Note: Leaderboard features are available on both web and mobile when applicable.
A student can see their logging activity ranked against their friends’ logging activity by clicking on the “Leaderboard” tab next to “Friends.”
Each individualized leaderboard lists the top 25 readers among that student’s friends, either by books logged, minutes logged, and/or student participation rate, depending on your site settings
A student can view the past week’s leaderboard (since Monday) or the past month's leaderboard using the dropdown in the upper righthand corner of the screen (web) or a toggle setting (mobile). If no data is logged during a given time period, the student will receive a message saying “There’s no data for this time period.”
By FriendsThe friends-based leaderboard shows where you rank among your school friends in terms of minutes and books, over the last week or month.
While viewing the leaderboard, students can click on their friends’ names or their own name to view their activity overview, challenges, and reading log in the same pop-up window as on the friends screen.

By GradeAll students have access to a school-wide, grade-based leaderboard that shows the top grades and highlights a student's own grade ranking. A preview of this leaderboard appears on the student home page, and students can access the full list via Leaderboards > Grade (web) or Community > Leaderboards > Grade (mobile).
Note: At this time, grade leaderboards cannot be hidden for readers.
By SchoolIf your school is part of a district implementation in Beanstack, all students have access to a district-wide, school-based leaderboard that shows the top schools and highlights the student's school ranking in the district. A preview of this leaderboard appears on the student home page, and students can access the full list on the Leaderboards > School page.
In addition to minutes and books read, students can also view the percentage of overall student participation for all schools in their district.
Note: At this time, school leaderboards cannot be hidden for readers.
