How does the RMI scoring logic work?
Tags: RMI
Overview
-
Each Reading Motivation Index (RMI) contains the same 20 questions, where each motivation factor is represented by 2 questions.
-
There are 10 motivation factors—5 intrinsic and 5 extrinsic. If a student responds “Very different from me” or “A little different from me” to every question, they receive a special factor called “The Mystery.” To learn more about each factor, see the Factors section below.
-
Overall RMI scores range from 20-40 points. Intrinsic and extrinsic scores range from 10-20. When a student responds to a question, the response translates to a score for that factor.
-
Very different from me = 1
-
A little different from me = 2
-
A little like me = 3
-
A lot like me = 4
