How to add an offline account
While we strongly encourage all readers to have an online account for their site, we understand some readers would rather use paper logs. To allow offline readers on your site, go to Setup > Site Settings and toggle on the “Add Offline Reader” setting. Before creating an offline account, please understand the following caveats:
- Only one reader can be registered per offline account. Therefore, family accounts are not possible. To set up an account for a family, follow the steps in this article.
- There is no way to ever switch to an account the reader can use themselves. Therefore, they cannot log reading data on their own. Only admins can do this.
If a reader is unlikely to ever use Beanstack on their own, here are the steps for creating an offline account:
- Log in to the admin view of your site.
- Navigate to People > Add Offline Reader.
- Enter all of the required fields (indicated by a red asterisk) for the reader.
- Enroll the reader in any available challenges based on their age range and/or redeem prizes for any of those challenges.
- If you mark a challenge as completed at this stage, reading logs are not automatically added. To capture data in your Beanstack site, make sure to enter the reader’s logging information under Log Reading.
- Click Create Account after you have entered all the required and desired information.
When you create an offline account, Beanstack will generate a unique username beginning with “qa_” for the account. Like you would any other account, you can search for an offline account with the Find A Person function to:
