What is the best way to set up a challenge that requires participants read specific books or genres?
We recommend setting up an activities-only challenge. If you want to award a badge for having read each individual book, we suggest making several individual activity badges that have an activity like, “Read The One and Only Ivan, and tell us about what you enjoyed most in the space provided.” Then, make the activity a “text box challenge.” You can create custom badges that align with each title (or genre).
Alternatively, you might have one activity badge that has multiple books listed. For example:
- Activity 1: “Read The One Read The One and Only Ivan, and tell us about what you enjoyed most in the space provided.”
- Activity 2: “Read Wonder, and tell us about what you enjoyed most in the space provided.”
- Activity 3: “Read XYZ, and tell us about what you enjoyed most in the space provided.”
You can require that someone complete all or a portion of the books to earn the badge. This can also work very well with a genre challenge. You would substitute the title with a genre and ask the reader to indicate the title they read within that genre.
