How to scan a book’s ISBN on the web
Tags: Logging, Web, Readers
If your computer has a camera, you can scan a title’s ISBN to easily add it to your Beanstack reading log!
Follow the steps below:
-
Once logged in your reader account, click “Log Reading” near the top left of your screen.
-
Note: If your school/library has enabled the updated logging form for the web, the ISBN option is available as soon as you select “Log Reading!”
-
-
Select the accurate reader(s) if there are multiple readers on the account.
-
On the “Title” field, click the ISBN icon.
-
You will need to grant the Beanstack app permission to use your computer’s camera if you have not already.
-
-
Then, hold your title’s ISBN barcode under the camera, lined up with the scan line. Keep in mind that you should scan the book’s ISBN, and not a library barcode.
-
Once recognized, you may hear a “beep” sound, and the book cover, “Title,” and “Author” fields will automatically populate. You can edit title, and author, as well as add minutes or mark the book as complete.
-
Click “Log Reading” to finish.
